Why Was My dbt Core Transformation Auto-Paused?
To help you avoid unnecessary resource usage and reduce alert fatigue, Fivetran automatically pauses a dbt Core transformation if it fails repeatedly due to issues outside of Fivetran's control (such as problems in your data, configuration, or environment).
When does auto-pause activate?
- Your transformation fails more than 10 times in a row (on the 11th consecutive failure).
- At least 24 hours have passed since the first failure in this series.
- Only failures due to issues outside of Fivetran’s control count toward this threshold.
When your transformation is auto-paused:
- You’ll see an alert in your Fivetran dashboard.
- If you’re subscribed to transformation notifications, you’ll receive an email.
- You can manually resume the transformation from the dashboard after resolving the root cause.
System-level or transient errors do not trigger auto-pause, and the failure counter resets after the transformation is paused.
