Microsoft Advertising MAR Management
NOTE: We wrote this article before we changed our pricing model on February 1, 2022. If you signed up for a new Fivetran account or renewed your existing account after January 31, 2022, you have an unlimited number of free customer-triggered re-syncs per connector each month. For more information about MAR usage, see our pricing documentation.
Use Case
You want to understand how the functioning of Microsoft Advertising connectors affects Monthly Active Rows (MAR).
Environment
Microsoft Advertising connectors
Connector Overview
The Microsoft Advertising connector syncs a blend of standard tables and reporting tables into the destination.
You can sync one or multiple accounts to your destination.
The connector leverages priority-first syncs at the reporting table-level to retrieve the latest data along with the historical data.
You can select how many months' worth of data to include in the initial sync.
You can specify an attribution window that influences how we aggregate reports.
The
USER_LOCATION_PERFORMANCE_DAILY_REPORT
andUSER_LOCATION_PERFORMANCE_HOURLY_REPORT
reports spike at the beginning of the month.
Contributing factors
There are six primary factors that contribute toward MAR:
- Number of accounts you are syncing
- Number of reporting tables you are syncing
- Historical syncs
- Daily and hourly reports
- The number of months you include in the historical sync
- The attribution window you select
Managing MAR
When setting up the connector, you can choose the accounts that you want to sync into your destination. The number of accounts you select impacts MAR.
You can select how many months of historical data to include in the initial sync. Depending on your selection, the sync will contribute to MAR if it lasts longer than the trial period.
The connector updates each row in the reporting tables that are modified. We update several rows in the reporting tables each day.
The hourly and daily options that you select for the reports contribute towards MAR.
Two reports that consistently contribute to MAR are
USER_LOCATION_PERFORMANCE_DAILY_REPORT
andUSER_LOCATION_PERFORMANCE_HOURLY_REPORT
. The advertising campaigns that you run impact the tables that contribute to high MAR.We determine MAR using the number of reports you select. There are spikes at the beginning of the month since we fetch the updated rows. Make sure to select only the necessary tables in the Schema tab.
Historical syncs impact MAR.
