Samsara Setup Guide Lite
Follow our setup guide to connect Samsara to Fivetran.
Prerequisites
The Samsara connector supports two authentication methods, API token and OAuth 2.0. The prerequisites depend on the authentication method you choose for your connection.
Prerequisites for API token authentication
To connect Samsara to Fivetran using API token authentication, you need:
- a Samsara account
- an API token configured with:
- tags for the objects you want the connection to access
- read-only scopes for the API endpoints you want to sync
Prerequisites for OAuth 2.0 authentication
To connect Samsara to Fivetran using OAuth 2.0 authentication, you need:
- a Samsara account
- an OAuth 2.0 app with:
- the redirect URL set to
https://fivetran.com/integrations/samsara/oauth2/return - read-only scopes for the API endpoints you want to sync
- the redirect URL set to
- the App ID and App Secret for the OAuth 2.0 app
Setup instructions
In the connection setup form, enter the Destination schema name of your choice.
Select the region of your Samsara account. Options are:
- EU: Select this option if your account region is Europe.
- Non-EU: Select this option if your account region is not in Europe.
In the Authentication type drop-down menu, select the authentication method you want to use for your connection.
- If you select API Token, enter the API token you want to use to authenticate your connection.
- If you select OAuth 2.0, enter the App ID and App secret for the OAuth 2.0 app you want to use to authenticate your connection.
(Hybrid Deployment only) If your destination is configured for Hybrid Deployment, the Hybrid Deployment Agent associated with your destination is pre-selected for the connection. To assign a different agent, click Replace agent, select the agent you want to use, and click Use Agent.
Click Save & Test. Fivetran will take it from here and sync your Samsara data.
