SAP SuccessFactors Setup Guide Private Preview

Follow our setup guide to connect SAP SuccessFactors to Fivetran.

Prerequisites

To connect SAP SuccessFactors to Fivetran, you need the following:

• A SAP SuccessFactors Admin account
• Access to a SuccessFactors HXM Cloud Ops demo instance

Setup instructions

Find subdomain

From the list of SAP SuccessFactors API servers, make a note of the API Server URL corresponding to your Environment and Location. You will need it to configure Fivetran.

Find Company ID

1. Log into SAP SuccessFactors HXM Cloud Ops Portal.
2. Click DEMO INSTANCE REQUEST TOOL, and then select PARTNER DEMO REQUEST TOOL.
3. Select your demo instance.
4. Make a note of the Company ID. You will need it to configure Fivetran.
5. Log into your demo instance.

Register OAuth2 client application

1. Log into your SuccessFactors HXM Cloud Ops instance as an Administrator.
2. Go to Admin Center > API Center > OAuth Configuration for OData, and then click Register Client Application.

   TIP: You can access the tool by searching Manage OAuth2 Client Applications in Action Search.

3. In the new OAuth client registration page, click Generate X.509 Certificate.
4. In the Common Name field, enter the hostname of your application.
5. In the Organization field, enter Fivetran.
6. Clear the Enable validity check checkbox.
7. Click Generate.
8. Download and open the X.509 certificate.
9. Make a note of the Application Key. You will need it to configure Fivetran.

Generate SAML assertion

1. Follow the instructions in SAP's documentation to generate a SAML assertion.

   NOTE: We recommend setting the expireInMinutes property higher than the SAML token expiration period.

2. Make a note of the SAML assertion. You will need it to configure Fivetran.

Finish Fivetran configuration

1. In the connector setup form, enter the Destination schema name of your choice.
2. In the Subdomain field, enter the API server URL you found in Step 1.

   NOTE: The URL must be in the following format: xxxx.yyyy.com.

3. Enter the Company ID you found in Step 2.
4. In the Client ID field, enter the application key you found in Step 3.
5. Enter the SAML Assertion you found in Step 4.
6. (Hybrid Deployment only) If your destination is configured for Hybrid Deployment, the Hybrid Deployment Agent associated with your destination is pre-selected in the Select an existing agent drop-down menu. To use a different agent, select the agent of your choice, and then select the same agent for your destination.
7. Click Save & Test. Fivetran will take it from here and sync your data from your SAP SuccessFactors account.
