Error: RuntimeException…Does Not Have Access to the Twitter Ads API

Issue

While setting up a Twitter Ads connector, the setup tests fail with the following error:

RuntimeException: The client application making this request does not have access to Twitter Ads API

Environment

Answer

You may need to wait for Twitter to approve your Ads API application. You will receive an acceptance email from Twitter regarding the application. Learn more in this Twitter's developer community post

Cause

The Twitter application does not have access to the Twitter Ads API. This is a prerequisite for Step 3 of the Twitter Ads connector setup guide.
