Why Does the effective_date Column in the JOB_PROFILE Table Show the Sync Date?
Question
Why does the JOB_PROFILE table show the sync date in the effective_date column instead of the actual effective date?
Environment
Connector: Workday HCM
Answer
Fivetran requests job profile data from Workday for the current sync date. Workday treats that request as a snapshot and returns the job profile records that are active on the sync date. It also returns the sync date in the effective_date field. As a result, the effective_date column in the JOB_PROFILE table shows the sync date. It does not show the original date when the job profile became effective.
To sync the actual effective dates or job profile history, create a Workday Report-as-a-Service (RaaS) custom report that includes the effective-dating fields you need. Then, sync the report using the Workday RaaS connector.
